L5P Duramax oil pump gears do not have an alghnment pin, or keyway. They simply rely on the balancer bolt torque to hold the the harmonic balancer, and oil pump gear from spinning on the crankshaft snout. This has been known to happen if the engine sees high RPM often, or If the balancer has been removed, and not torque properly the oil pump gear, and balancer will spin.
This kit is used to drill, and repin the balancer and oil pump gear with out having to pull the crank shaft out of the engine, to have a key machined in. This pin kit can be used with the engine still in the truck, only needing to remove the radiator, and intercooler. Remove the broken pin, and install the balancer in its original postion. 180 Degrees from the factory pin location. Use the drill jig to drill 2" deep. Install the hardened roll pin, and tighten the OEM crankshaft bolt with washer to factory torque.
As of 10/1/2024 All CR2 Crankshaft pin kits WILL work with Fluidamper harmonic dampers.
